Today I went to Pedro Heredia, the street where you have to go to buy whatever you want. I decided not to walk, but to take one of the motorbikes that drive around. There are more of those then taxis, they are cheaper and quicker, and of course it doesn’t rain here. For one person to go somewhere in Cartagena, it is the way to go.
I got a helmet from the driver, and discus the price. I asked first. He came with a price of 2000 pesos. Probably he never met a person that didn’t know what to pay, so he overcharged. I said: “Ok, 1500 pesos”, and he agreed. Warning me that he had no change.
It took 10 minutes, and 75 dollar cents. That is really not very much. But those are the prices here.
“Don Luis”, the one of the wood-factory, recognized me from a month ago, and we went into the details of my ordering-list. After 15 minutes everything was clear. Everything would be ready Thusday afternoon. I paid 50% of the price as down payment. Around 50 dollars. What is not very much, as I asked for a variety of wood, in all kind of exotic dimensions, but that was no problem at all. I would have it in those dimensions, planed and straight.
Nothing more to do I took a motorbike home. More experienced now, I waved a motorbike and said “1500 for Manga, Club Nautico”, what was immediately accepted.
In the afternoon I stayed inside. I still have this very nasty cough/running nose that seems to take forever to go away. I concentrated on fine tuning my applications to maintain my website by email. I keep inventing new functionalities. The target of this afternoon was to make an enhancement in the links on my site, so that you can get what you are looking for more efficient. I’m happy with the result.

They both are saying to be member of the same banking-networks. They communicate both via satellites. (Look at the dishes on the roofs). I’m trying to be smart. I will only cash in the one that was working the first time for the rest of the time that I will be in Cartagena. Like that, I can keep track of my withdrawals. I charge with my debit-card and I have control via my Internet-bank account. I can see what is withdrawn. They don’t lose any time with a debit-card. It is charged and paid within 24 hours.
